    Gora, Hakone - In the Edo period, Hakone served as a gateway to the hot spring areas blessed with abundant source waters at the western entrance to Edo along the Tokaido, one of the Edo Five Routes. Gora is one of this Hakone’s 17 Great Hot Springs. Surrounded by the Mother Nature far away from the bustle of Yumoto, it features an abundant and highly effective high temperature hot spring source, and in the latter half of the Meiji era it developed as a luxury villa location attracting many people of culture, financiers, and foreigners.

    Gora is a symbol of Mother Nature and hot spring sources which represent Hakone in modern Japanese culture.
    High up in the quiet mountains surrounded by the sounds of wild birds and wind blowing through the trees, Shinzan sits calmly. Looking out into a sea of clouds covering the visage of the Kanji character “dai” with a commanding view of the great panorama of Hakone’s outer rim. Sagami Bay can be seen in the distance, and countless stars twinkle at midnight. The dawn is enveloped by a wondrous sunrise whose light floods into the building.

    All hot spring baths in Shinzan are safe and flowing directly from clean source waters. We offer 2 types of baths: spacious large public baths with saunas, and large public baths with refined open-air baths. The high-quality sodium chloride springs provide water that is soft and gentle to the skin. You can fully enjoy the hot spring waters of Gora which will imbue your body and mind with tranquility.

  • Cuisine of Shinzan

    The cuisine of Shinzan uses carefully selected ingredients such as the nutritious seafood and locally produced vegetables and freshly-harvested blessings of the mountains from Ashigara and Sagami. It is Japanese cuisine produced carefully and diligently with devotion to originality and ideas. Please fully enjoy our cuisine as it goes beyond your five senses and resounds in your heart.
